Multiple terrorist attacks rocked Afghanistan in July, killing dozens of people.

UNITED NATIONS, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Thursday condemned "in the strongest terms" several terrorist attacks that took place in Afghanistan late July, including a "heinous and cowardly" bus attack that killed at least 34 people.

In a press statement, the council members expressed their "deepest sympathy and condolences" to the families of the victims and to the government of Afghanistan, and wished a speedy and full recovery to the injured.

They reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.

They underlined the need to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of those "reprehensible acts of terrorism" accountable and bring them to justice, and urged all nations to cooperate with the Afghan government and all other relevant authorities in this regard.

Last month's attacks resulted in numerous casualties, many of them civilians. At least 34 people were killed and 17 others wounded when a long-distance bus crashed on Wednesday morning in Afghanistan's western Farah province after being hit by a landmine, according to an Afghan official, who blamed Taliban militant group for planting the landmine on the roadside.
