SINGAPORE, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Several places in Singapore were decorated with the dazzling lanterns to celebrate the Chinese mid-autumn festival which falls on Monday.

Themed Autumn of Fantasies, the show at Gardens by the Bay was kicked off on Sept. 6 and will wrap up Monday night. It draws inspiration from the traditional Chinese mythical elements. The entrance archway features jade rabbits and Sandersonia flowers. The Phoenix and The Peony combines to demonstrate a delicate and elegant picture. The 70-meter long Leaping over the Dragon's Gate depicts carps and a giant dragon. Some 120 sea creature-shaped lanterns form the Underwater World, reminding people of the diversity of sea animals underwater.

Mrs Ho who is a Singaporean toured the show with her husband Monday night. She said the themes of the show differ each year. Last year, it was about a harvesting season in autumn, this year is on Chinese cultures. The lanterns were beautiful and added to the charm of the festival, she added.

People of different origins visited the show with their families or friends, and some kids brought their own lanterns to walk around.

In Chinatown, the display presents the jobs the early Chinese male and female immigrants undertook, and also a 10-meter-tall traditional Chinese junk which the immigrants rode on from China to Singapore.

Different shapes of lanterns stemming from the Southeast Asian region could be found at the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, which marks Singapore assuming the rotating chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations this year.
