TRIPOLI, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Libya's eastern-based House of Representatives (Parliament) on Tuesday decided to send a special committee to Greece to follow up the investigation into a Libyan ship carrying explosive materials recently seized by Greece.

"The parliament has decided to form a special committee to go to Greece, consisting of the parliament's second deputy speaker and heads of committees of defense, national security, interior and foreign affairs. The committee will closely follow up the investigation on the ship to find out the parties behind and to submit all this information to the parliament," said parliament spokesman Abdullah Bhelig.

Bhelig noted that the UN Security Council and the League of Arab States have been informed officially regarding "the violation of Security Council resolutions banning the export of arms (to Lybia), which have been applied by the Libyan army forces led by General Khalifa Haftar, the legitimate body that fights terrorism."

Bhelig also said that the Turkish parliament has been addressed, in order to respond and clarify the circumstances of the ship.

Greek Coast Guards announced earlier this month that they seized a ship flying the flag of Tanzania and carrying materials used to make explosives while sailing to Libya.

The ship's cargo policy indicates that the cargo was loaded at the Turkish ports of Mersin and Iskenderun and was headed to Djibouti and Oman.

However, Greek Coast Guards said preliminary investigation showed that the ship's captain had received orders from the ship's owner to sail to the Libyan city of Misurata to unload the entire cargo.
