CAIRO, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir said on Monday that his country is ready to further develop relations with China, especially in the economic sector.
In a statement, El-Wazir highlighted that China is Egypt's top trading partner, voicing his hope to encourage more Chinese companies to invest in Egypt.
According to the statement, El-Wazir is traveling to China as an envoy of Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi to participate in the events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Underscoring the strength of the Egyptian-Chinese relationship, the deputy prime minister noted that Egypt and China have established a comprehensive strategic partnership since 2014.
Referring to an implementation outline of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership, signed by the two countries in 2024, El-Wazir said the agreement serves as a roadmap for developing and elevating bilateral relations based on tangible achievements from previous years.
El-Wazir's stay in China includes several meetings with leaders and representatives of major Chinese companies to discuss cooperation, as well as efforts to attract more Chinese investments into the Egyptian market. ■
