DHAKA, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- A seminar was held on Monday by the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the World Anti-Fascist War.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen called on all parties to remember the history and honor fallen heroes, cherish and safeguard the hard-won peace, and uphold humanity's common values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy and freedom.
The ambassador also appealed the international community to jointly resist erroneous acts of distorting history and glorifying aggression, thus defending the victory outcomes of the World War II and international fairness and justice, so as to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, former Bangladeshi advisor of Foreign Affairs, said that the international community should jointly uphold post-war international order and a multilateral system.
The participants praised China's significant contributions to the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, and stressed the importance of bearing in mind lessons to prevent the repeat of tragedies. ■
